My projects are generally inspired by classic designs, but with a twist. I like to build things like basses on guitar bodies, non-standard scale lengths, and occasionally originals, and experiment with materials, finishes, and electronics. One of my great interests is driving the cost out of luthiery by sourcing parts and materials from the hardware store. I prefer to build more guitars than simply more-expensive guitars.

However, if you look at the projects listed here, you'll find that I am building real instruments, not junk or jokes ( although some of them are kind of humorous. )

The projects are classified according to what inspired them.

Hollow plywood body with Mighty Mite 34" neck. Graphtech Ghost piezo saddles with a backup soundhole-mounted magnetic pickup, active electronics.

This was a box of junk I got on eBay, originally a vintage Convertible. I replaced the front and back with cabinet-grade birch plywood, as the original mother-of-countertop material is no longer available. I rebuilt it as something like a Companion, which is a very rare model. The neck and sides are vintage, the rest is modern.

Together with the guitar, this was the first of my modified Audiovox design to be completed. Solid poplar bodies, stained to look like walnut, with single bindings. Each pickguard used an entire sheet of material; only these two got the pearl treatment, the rest got much less expensive masonite pickguards.

I finally got the WordPress image mess sorted out. Additionally, I resized all the images to fit in a 1000x1000 box. ( I kept backups of the originals. ) 1000x1000 is larger than the largest an image will display on this layout, about 800x800, so I have some upgrade room in the future if I want it. At the same time, it shrinks the files by 60-70%. Making even smaller images would be only slightly better, and I want to keep everything simple.
