Doing Things Wrong

Silvertone 1457 Guitar & Amp (5/5)

This is a 1449 - identical to the 1457 except for the pickguard and color.
I imagine if you turn off a hot amp and close the case, things could get rather warm inside
The 1449 gave way to the 1457 after just one year, and is pretty rare

This 1449 uses open-back tuners, like the 1448. The 1457 uses 'skate-key' tuners, which apparently were an upgrade. Danelectro used whatever they had on hand, and you find both kinds of tuners on all models, afaik.

This started as a stock Squier Jaguar bass body. This 32" conversion neck was my first bass neck build. Stock pickups ( which are pretty decent ) with cream-colored covers and upgraded electronics. I used a MusicMan bridge to evoke the round Jazzmaster tailpiece, and likewise cream Strat knobs.  I think it is a vast improvement over the Jaguar it started out as. The Cowbell inherited some of the Jaguar electronics.
