It's time to get back to work in the real world. Here is a Mosrite body, almost completely recovered from its brush with water-based polyurethane. Stick with oil-based, water-based is junk.
This one went through a long and torturous build process over almost two years. All I can say is don't believe the "advice" you find on talk_ass. However, in the end, it turned out to be a pretty nice instrument.
This guy is obviously a master with a belt sander, he makes this look easy, and he does it fast too. I used to use a belt sander for neck shaping, but there are a number of difficulties with that, it is easy to screw up, and the dust flies everywhere.
